Don't you just LOVE our new Carrara Marble coffee table? Well, it looked like this a few days ago...

I went to the blogs trying to find a tutorial... & did I find a tutorial?!? I found THE tutorial!!! Plus a great new to me blog to follow. Danika's step by step instructions over at Gorgeous Shiny Things is SO good that I will not even attempt to recreate my own version of a tutorial that has been done so well. Not really into reinventing the wheel, unless I turn my wheel into something different :)

The thing that helped me the most was her video tutorial. {Would you guys want to see me do these?} While I didn't have all of the tools she had, I improvised using things I found around the house, resulting in a FREE project! I used some primer, black acrylic craft paint & a couple of spare brushes. My favorite tool was her cardboard feather trick!
I obviously need some more practice... but I am pretty proud of my first attempt.
I sealed it with a water based polyurethane as Danika recommended so it won't yellow. Plus it needs to be pretty durable as this is part of our daily routine...
Thanks Danika @ Gorgeous Shiny Things for some great inspiration & an AMAZING tutorial!

What sort of waterproof poly did you use? I use that a lot and it still yellows slightly. Did yours yellow at all? I would love to find one that doesn't!
ReplyDeleteThanks. You table is awesome! I would LOVE to do that on counters!
